The Archibald Foundation funds nonprofit charitable organization’s long-term capital asset and equipment that provide tangible benefits and ongoing support to improve the quality of life for residents of Northwest Washington.
As a means of achieving effective use of the Foundation’s funds, a portion of the annual distributions are directed to a Core group of organizations. These organizations support the various elements necessary for a healthy community, including access to arts and culture, educational opportunity and meeting basic needs.
Our Regular grants average between $3,000 – $7,000.
Grants are confined to organizations operating within the Northwest Washington region comprising the area from the crest of the Cascade mountains to the Pacific Ocean and from Whatcom and San Juan Counties on the north to Grey’s Harbor, Thurston and Pierce Counties on the south or to projects significantly affecting residents of Northwest Washington.
Adult performing arts organizations located in King and Pierce Counties are no longer funded directly. Our Foundation supports the ArtsFund with annual grants for such organizations. A link to their website is included in our Grant Guidelines.
Usually, grants will not be made for: ongoing normal operations/programs; debt retirement or operational deficits; contributions to endowment or scholarship funds; or for conduit organizations, i.e., to tax-exempt organizations for passing funds on to organizations not tax-exempt in their own right.
No grants will be made to individuals, private foundations or to governmental or tax-supported institutions.
